Melbourne, July 1. The Victorian yearly revenue returns are published to-day, Total revenue for twelve months ending June 30th is £6,290,000, being an increase on the preceding year of £356,000. Among the Departments showing increase are : Customs, £150,000; Excise, £6,000; Kailways, £121,000. Total revenue has exceeded the Treasurer's estimate by £326,000. The examination of the Simpson's Road bank robbers was concluded yesterday, when the prisoners were all committed for trial at the July criminal session, bail being refused. A syndicate, the shares of which are fully subscribed, has been formed for the purpose of equipping and despatching an expedition to New Guinea in search of gold, of which several excellent specimens were brought back fr:m the island by Mr, Kerry, of the recent Age New Guinea expedition. Adelaide, July 1. The South Australian revenue returns give a total revenue for the past year of £2,150,000, or £271,000 below estimated. The amount of Customs duties show a decrease of £109,000. The Premier (Mr. Downer), in his statement, announced that the deficiency of the revenue below expenditure was £256,000, and actual deficit at end of financial year £700,000.
