PARLIAMENTARY.
POLITICAL GOSSIP IN WELLINGTON. POSITION OF PARTIES IN THE HOUSE. A special to the Auckland Star says :—: — " I have just had a long talk with Sir G. Grey on the situation. He complains of I the attempts that are being made to widen ' the breach between himself and Mr. Stout, but he does not seem to think a coalition between Major Atkinson and Sir Julius Yogel likely. He thinks Major Atkinson's influence is much smaller than it was last session. He expresses gre.it danger at the present state- of politics. The opinion is gaining ground that a dissolution is one of the eventualities of the session. YOGEL AND ATKINSON. An Auckland member in the confidence of: Major Atkinson, informed the Star's special, that- there is no probability this session of a coalition between the Yogel and Atkinson sections, though many of both parties would like to see it brought about. He thinks it is quite on the cards that next "session this will bo brought about, and indeed hinted that there is a tacit understanding between the Treasurer and the member for Egmont not to attempt to disturb tne present party lines till a more fitting opportunity than tho present arrives.
