COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Council met on Wednesday. Present : Messrs. Brown (in the chair), Gibbons, King, 2 3 rice, and Honeyfield. Considerate. — Mr.H. Fenwick, Waipuku, \ offered the use of his dray to the County, j If the Council was short of funds he would not trouble them with his account. His offer was referred to the overseer. Payment of Members. — On Mr. Brown's proposal, it was decided " That the present method of payment of members be discontinued, and that in the future travelling expenses alone be allowed, taking tbe train and coach fares as a basis of expenture." Clifton County. — A statement of accounts prepared by Messrs. Bauchope and Faull waa tabled. It showed that Clifton was entitled to £591 — It was decided that the committee previously appointed for the purpose should mset on Saturday and d aw up a report. Moa Road Board. — Mr. Gibbons said that the Moa Road Board recently elected five members. Through an informality the lowest on the poll losen his float. — The Chairman said the Council had no power to declare the sixth person on tbe poll elected in place of the fifth. Stone-crusliei'. — 0a Mr. Price's motion, it was decided, "That as soon as tbo present work is done, the stone-crusher be removed to a site near the Mangorei Bridge, to be selected by the overseer." Rale. — Mr. Honeyfiold gave notice of motion that the Council at the next meeting strike a rate of in the £. JEgmont Road. — Mr. Gibbons, on behalf of Mr. Elliot, gave notice of motion, "That the Egmont road between the Egmont Village and Devon Line be recommended to tho Government as a main road, under the Soada and Bridges Construction Act."
