On Saturday last "we cleared off a parcel of fruit trees, shrubs, pines, and varieties of other plants from Mr. Mitchinson's nursery, at moderate rates, considering the very stormy weather. —At our weekly sale at the mart we sold a fair quantity of stuff at moderate rates. Fowls brought Is. 4d. to Is. 7d. each ; bacon, 7Ad. per lb.; cheese, 6£d. to 7fd. per lb.; wheat, 35.; bran, 3s. 6d.; potatoes, rather inferior, 4s. 6d.; good samples maintained tbeir prices.' A lot of furniture and sundries moved off at slightly lower rates than usual. On Wednesday we held the opening sale at our new cattle yards, Waiwakaiho. The day turned out fine, and the attendance was exceedingly good,. bidding, on the whole, being rery satisfactory. About 150 head vere yarded, of which 110 were sold. 22 good calves from £2 to £2 2s. 6d.; 8 very small do, 15s. to 28. ; 7 fair calves, £1155.; 1 yearling pedigree bull, £12 ; 12 store cows, £3 7s. 6d. to £5 ; 3 shy 2-year-old heifers, £3 ; 26 2-year-old mixed'cattle from £3 10s. to £i ; 2 4-year-old steers, £5 17s. 6J. ; 1 old bullcok, £7 Is. ; 4 3-year old steers. £5 ; 3 prime cows, at calving, fmm £8 to £9 10s. each ; 4 poor cows, with calves, £4 10s. to £5 ; 1 Hereford springer, £6 ; 8 springers, £6 155., £7, £6 10s., £5 12s. 6d., £7, £5 10s., £7, £5 ; 1 Hereford bull, £7 103.; 1 poor bull, £3 2a. 6d.; 1 young bull, £3 ; 1 draught mare, £8 6s. ; 1 light draught marc, £7 5a.; 1 pair first-class young draught horses, £55.
