London, August 21. — The Stcuidard this morning publishes a telegram reporting that serious defections are taking place from the troops of the new Ameer, Abdul Kahman, in favour of Yakoob Khau's party at Ghuznee, and of 4youb Khan's at Candahar. Calcutta, August 26. — Intelligence has been received that a sortie by the British troops from Candahar was made from the eastward of the citadel. The enemy were found to have taken up a strong position, and had also been strongly reinforced. The British troops were obliged to retire.
Calcutta, August 27.-News has come to hand that a mutiny has broken out among the troops of the Khan of Khelah, in Beloochristan, and orders have been given for a wing of one of the Highland regiments, stationed at Quettah, to proceed to the assistance of Khan without delay. The garrison at Kandahar, under General Primrose, is weak, and much anxiety is felt for his safety. Fresh complications may now arise, and the war be prolonged.
