WAIRARAPA. GOLD. Grahamstown, September 13. A ton of stuff taken from a locality 17 miles from Feathorston (Wellington), by Williams, a prospector in tho Wairarapa District, has been crashed at the Thames battery, yielding 23 dwts. to the ton. Assay value of the gold is £2 18s. per oz. higher than tho average value of the Thames gold. BAY OF ISLAND STEAM COMPANY. Auckland, September 15.
Tho Bay of Islands Steam Navigation Company declare 20 per cent, dividend, and carry something to the reserve.

A Portugese named Bolen has been arrested at llussell on a ohargo of indecent assault.
FIRE AT WANGANUI.
Wanganui, September 15.
A fire on Sunday morning destroyed a general store on Taupo Quay, occupied by William Kolls, and tlie Railway Hotel, occupied by Oopstiek. The Insurances are — Kell's stock, £000 in National, and £600 in Imperial ; furniture, £250 in Transatlantic ; hotel building, £600 in Union, and £150 in North British ; stock and furniture, £400 in Standard and £150 in the North British. Ample water supply, and the Fire Brigade worked splendidly. The origin is unkuowu.
