THE WOUNDED MAN.

Giiaiiamstown, August 80. — MoWilliams, who was shot by the natives, is in hospital. He was wounded through his right log, just below the groin ; he is also wounded with small shot in the chest. Me Williams informed the Star reporter that, when shot, he shammed t]eath, and the natives (one of whom he recognised) came to him and koreroed over his body, supposing him dead. Ono of them cut off a portion of his hair, chewing it up. The feeling in the district is that the Government must take aotive measures. Mr. Sheehan, Superintendent Thomson, and a party of police left for Ohinomuri on Saturday afternoon.
