MANUTAHI.

[MOM OUR OWN COItUESPONDENT.]. August 28.— Colonel Trimbld ' inct jEho.' debtors of the (Jrey and Hell tit Manutalri on tho 28th August. Captain Kelly in the chair. The meeting was numerously attended. The diflioulty with a largo number of the Manutahi people with regard to the Colonel is the old harbour question. Tho Colonel has completely set this subject at rest. He said he is still of the same opinion as ho was bofove ; there has been nothing as yet to alter his opinion —he considered the question fought and won. The public creditor has now stepped in — the work is commenced — friends and foes arc now alike implicated, and it wonld be dishonorable to attempt to frustrate what the majority of tho electors have determined to carry out. The Colonel would have an easy walk over as far as Mahu* hilii is concerned, the only drawback being the want of a polling place. There arc about a hundred voters, who, if they voted at all, would prefer Manutahi to any other place. B'armers are very busy now after the wet weather we havo had, and a lino day is not to be neglected. A farmer behind-hand with his work is rather an ugly customer to ask a favour of, especially if. that favour is at tho loss of a line cay. The electors of tho Grey and J)oll were somewhat divided during the heat of the election on the harbour question, and the only man who can now bind and consolidate the interests of tho whole of the district is the man who took such ft prominent par.t |d tiring that discussion.
