THE NATIVE DIFFICULTY.
Colonel Whitmore, before he left here, telegraphed to Colonel Lyon, commanding the Waikato, directing him to send from Cambridge a sub-inspector and twenty-five men of the Armed Constabulary, with orders to proceed at once to Tarauaki, and they may be expected by the first steamer from the North. Colonel Lyon was also ordered to recruit men without delay.
It is rumoured at Taurangn, says the Star, that Major Roberts is daily expected to be called to the field forces in Taranaki, also nearly every member of the local constabulary will shortly be despatched to New Plymouth.
His Excellency the Governor, the Premier, and Colonel Whitmore arrived in Wellington, from New Plymouth yesterday.
Recruiting is going on in Wellington to enable a force of two hundred men to ba raised, which will ba sent to New Plymouth.
