NEW ALTITUDE RECORD RROFESBOR PICARD’S PEAT. ZURICH, Aug. IS. IVui’cssor A. Picard alighted near Desenzanu, Lake Garda. He had previously wirelessed that he "was 19,500 metres up, breaking the record. He then saiid he intended alighting soon to avoid coming down in the Adriatic. A SAFE LANDING. Max Cosyns, descended on the shore of Lake Garda. Professor Picard stales that (lit! scientific results are magnificent, hid; they will take some time to work out. He added Unit ho feared for a while they would he frozen to death. The professor was luckier than he was last year when he was compelled to land on the Gurgy Glacier. This time the wind carried him over Venice. It was an easy landing, but Hie balloon was slighlty damaged. Pro Lessor Picard and M. .Max. Cosy ns stepped from the gondola unharmed. The change from the hitler cold atmosphere to thg sweltering heat of the Italian plains, however, was .so great that the men almost fainted as thev touched the grou'nd.
