MR WORTHINGTON HONOURED.

lAt the conclusion of the breakup proceedings at the Temuka District High School on Thursday, the chairman (Mr A. E. Smith) said they had a pleasing duty to perform, and that was to make a presentation to Mr John Worthington, who had occupied the position of master in the Temuka School for the past two years, and who wasleaving to assume the headmastership of Isla Bank School, Southland. Mr Worthington was leaving: to better his position, and the Committee wished him every success. He> ” asked two of the pupils—Hilda Smith and Stuart Taylor—to ‘make the presentation. Hilda Smith, in a neat littltf speech, said that on behalf of dard V., they wished to show the esteem in which Mr Worthington, was held by them, by asking him to accept a travelling rug, wishing him the compliments of the season. Whenever he used the rug, she hoped it would remind him of the pleasant time he had spent in Temuka. Master Taylor then handed Mr Worthington a handsome rug. Mr Worthington thanked the pupils for their handsome gift, which he assured them he would always treasure because of his association with Temuka. Every time he used it he would think of the pleasant times spent here, and of V the many kind people with whom v he had been associated.
