HERD TESTING ASSN.

MEETING AT CLANDEBOYE.

On Friday evening a meeting was held in the Clandehoye Hall, to finalise arrangements re jthe proposed Herd Testing Association. Mr McKay (Timaru) presided over a very fair gathering of local farmers. were also present from Timaru Mr Gillies and Mr Fraser. Mr Gillies addressed the meeting on the benefits of herd testing, and clearly showed how important it was to keep only the best cows and how the best cows could he found only by systematic testing. At the conclusion of the address, several questions were asked and satisfactorily answered. Mr Fraser then read the proposed rules and regulations. These were discussed clause by clause, and adopted in their entirety'. A local committee, to take charge of affairs in the’ Clandehoye group, consisting of Messrs Stanilaud, Boocock, Shorriff, Dunn, Martin and Mulligan, was set up. It was further decided that the Central Executive should consist of eight members —four to represent the group, two from the Timaru A. and P. Association, and two, from the Breeders’ Association. Messrs Stanilaud, Martin, Dunn and Mulligan were .elected to represent the Clandehoye group on the Executive. On the motion of Mr Stanilaud. the visiting speakers were accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. At a later meeting of the local committee, Mr W. H. Stauiland was appointed chairman and Mr H. T. Dunn secretary. Mr D, Pemberton, junr., was appointed testing officer for the group. Detail arrangements were made so that a start could be made with the opening of the season.
