(EdHf(i : by ;: *'Wiit.tl9 Blossom.")

All lettws to be addressed like this: Cousin "Wattle Blossom," oaro Temuka Leader and Geraldine Guardian,

Dear Boys and Girls,—Do .you know that a brand-new magazine for boys and girls lias just been published? It is called "Cobbere," and is an Australian magazine published especially for young Australasians—and that means you. It has exciting stories for both boys and .girls, puzzles, competitions, etc., and is altogether a splendid little magazine, which I am sure will delight you. There are prizes, too, for original sketches. Where's Paddy's sister? She sketches well, I know, and I hope she will go in for the competitions. I shall watch for names I know when I read ".Cobbers" (I'm looking forward to the second number) for, since the magazine is published especially for YOU, you must not forget to let -Arnica" and the "Clockwork Man" know that you read it. So let's see how many prizes young New Zealanders can carry off. I'm sure the ".Clockwork Man" would love to hear from you. Pleased to hear from Des Horgan ■•and Cecil Mathieson. BETTY MEETS |MR ,EABWIG. Betty had hardly finished speaking to the Bumblebee,-when a large earwig came and sat down beside her. Betty jumped. "Go away, please," she said; "I really don't like earwigs." "Why?" demanded the earwig, indignantly. "I'm sure I I'm as nice as old Jonas Bumblebee, anyway, and I've a much nicer coat and never sting!" "I don't 1 thiftk so," said Betty. ,r Mr Bumblebee's coat is fur, and it's a lovely colour." "Awfully bad taste on your part," the earwig grumbled, "but anyway, I don't sting!" Betty looked disgusted. "Sting?" she cried. "Why, you do miles worse, you know you do. You crawl .into people's ears if you get a chance, and bore right through the brain." "But not because I want to," the earwig protested. "If only I could walk backwards, it would be alright, but I can't, and there isn't any room to turn round!" "Well, what do you go inside for?" asked Betty crossly. "You've no need to!" "I've never been there myself," was the reply, "so I don't know —," Betty got up hastily. "Well," she said, "I won't wait. 'I don't want you crawling inside MY ears," and with a hurried "goodbye," she ran away, leaving the earwig dissolved in tears. Seddon St., Temuka, 3/4/26.
