! The second annual meeting of the 1 local branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held last i'Tiday afternoon, at the hom e oi Mrs E. B. Cooper, King Street, Temuka. There was a fair attendance, Plunket Nurse Cameron, preident, (occupying tho chair. After devotional exercises the annual report was read, also the> report from the Rest Room Superintendent, Miss Gladys Hancox. " The Refit Room is growing steadily in the appreciation of the ; public, especially by country people and mothers. During th e yea r there were 1369 visits paid to tho Rooms, and 801 babies were brought for consultation with the Plunket Nurses. Vote, of thattkis wero accorded to-ISurse Cameron and Mis s Oliver for their unremitting, attention to the'Rodin. The. balance-sheet revealed a credit of £l2 13s lid as against a credit.of £l3 7s 4d last year, but as there had •not been any special effort made, ihlt wa s deemed very satisfactory. A discussion arose regarding a new Rest Room, as the lease of the present on'e is only temporary. The matter however, was : left' over till ■ next meet.ng. It wai3 decided to form a ioung branch, and also a Loyal Temperance Legion next year. Officers were re-elected as follows: President, Plunket Nurse Cameron, Vice Presidents, Mesdame s Abbey, Hervey, Fell, Tilbrook, Brown and j Edwards. Secretary, Mrs E.
