FATAL ACCIDENT.
TO MR .JOHN LYNCH
A sad accident that resulted fatally occurred on the Main South Road, a little to the south of Fitzgerald's, on Saturday evening, shortly before 6.30 p.m. Mr John Lynch was cycling home when he was overtaken by a car, in which were Messrs A. Pratt, N. Barker, and J. F. Molly. For some reason, he was not seen until the car was a few yards from him, and although the brakes were put on he was struck and the car passed over him. When be was unconscious, and was at once motored to the Timaru Hospital, but was dead when examined in the ward. details regarding the accident are given in our report of the inquest. The late Mr Lynch was well-known and highly respected throughout the district. H» was a finished atep dancer, and a frequent competitor at local sports gatherings, wher* h© won many prizes. He also often acted as judge of dancing, and he will be much missed at sports meetings in South Canterbury. He was about 58 years of age. and leaves a large family.
