A meeting of ille General Comm'rlee was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday evening. Present —Mesdaines C. E Bremner and J. T. Smart, Misses Mansou and Phillips (lion, sec), Rev A. H Norris (President), ami Mr J. T. Smart.' Apologies were receiv ed from Rev C. Macdonald, M'-sdamcs Routledge ami Hayhtirsd, Miss llrcmner, Messrs C. E. Brernncr ami Hughes (treas ) and Mr Frew. The minutes of the last, committee meeting and of the special meeting—re visit of sailors of H.M.S. Veronica — were read and confirmed. The President, read a letter conveying the thanks of the men of H.M.S. Veronica for their pleasant time at Temuka. This letter had already been inserted in the paper. Mr Treleaven, Christchurch Sec., wrote for the opinion of the local Branch on the holding of the Annual Conference. —lt was decided to approve, and although probably not able to send a delegate,' this Branch will endeavour to arrange for representation when the date is fixed. The balance-sheet for year ending Dee 31 was read, and on the motion of Mrs Smart, seconded by Mrs C. E. Brernner, it was approved for presenlotiou to the Annual General Meeting. The credit balance of £32 10s 7d was considered very satisfactory, especially as £33 I3s GJ had been paid to Christchurch at the beginning of the year Ft arrears for journals, “The Navy.” Accounts for expenses totalling £7 7s fid incurred iu entertaining sailors uf H.M.S. Veronica were passed for payment. Miss Turner and Messrs Cartw right and Evans here attended for the annual meeting, which was postponed owing to the small attendance of members. I, nfortunalely. several other meetings were being held, and weather conditions were unfavourable. Further apologies wete received for this meeting from Mesdaines Armitage and Wareing and Mr 1). J.
