FARMERS’ UNION.
DOMINION EXECUTIVE MEETS. WELLINGTON, January 11. The Dominion Executive of tlie Farmers’ Union to-day decided, regarding complaints concerning charges on stud stock, to refer the matter to the Council of Agriculture, ■wiili the idea of having representations made to shipping companies and railway authorities, for a reduction in charges. Messrs G. Shea I, T. Moss, and J. McQuoen were appointed life members of the Union in recognition of their lengthy services.
ACCIDENTS, ETC.
A motor cycle, ridden ny David Noakes, 30, single, employed in the Electrical branch of the Public Works Department, skidded in the sand on the Hamilton-Cambridge road and crashed into a motor lorry coming from the opposite direction, Noakes. seriously injured, was removed to the hospital, where he died. George Higgolt, 21, was drowned whilst surf bathing on Murlwai Beach, Auckland, on Tuesday. Hi:; brother, Hartly, made great effort; to save him. William Shugg, aged 27 year-, married, a returned soldier with two children, died in Oamaru Hospital as the result of being knocked down by a .runaway horse at Weston on Sunday last
