TEMUKA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The monthly meeting of the T?muka District High School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present : Messrs D. Mclnncs (chairman), C. Davis, F. Saunders, G. Levens, 'and A. C. Watson (lion. sec). Mr Thompson sent an apology, as he was absent from town.

A letter was read from Mr C. W. Kent, Town. Clerk, Oamaru, acknowledging, on behalf of the Mayor, receipt of letter from the chairman, expressing the chairman's anil headmaster's appreciation of the school's reception at Oamaru on 23rd ult., and stating that the knowledge that all enjoyed the outing was ample repayment for any little, trouble taken, and assuring lliem of a hearty welcome on any future occasion.

Mr G. Judson, caretaker of the school, wrote asking for permission to apply for a certain temporary position, and stating that he would employ mi efficient substitute. —Permission was granted on condition that the work is earrjed out to the satisfaction of the committee.

The secretarv of the Board of Education wrote, stating (L, that thi committee's application for live single desks was held over for the present : (21 that the fence between the girls' and boys' play grounds would be repaired by the Hoard's foreman. Mr J. T.
