HOCKEY.
The hockey imirtch Timaru v. Lemuka was played on. the Athletic Grounds on Saturday. Play was very fast, Timaru attacking strongly, when Tcrnrika, by .good combined play, forced the ball into the Timaru circle, but good defence prevented any score being mgde. Temufca continued the attack, and after a lot of.give and take play, Kennedy, for Temuka, notch ed the lirst goal. This ended the, first spell. The second sped proved to be even faster, tho ball travelling up and down the field, neither side gaining any apparent advantage, until Braaip, supported by Hamilton and Mason, broke through the Torauk-a tire lust named registering a goal for Tlniani. From this onwards play was very even, and the match resulted in a draw.
