TEMUKA DOMAIN BOARD.

As briefly stated in last issue a meeting of the Temuka Domain Board was held on Wednesday evening last and .the business dealt with was tho consideration of the plans, prepared relative to the exchange of some land between the Board and the Police Department. The Chairman T. Buxton) said the clerk, as instructed by the Board, had authorised Messrs Moason and Marchant to survey the sections of land. This had been done and a plan of the 'same" was laid on tho table for inspection by "'member's. As most of those present were aware there had been a mutual exchange rhade in the past between the Board and the Police Department of the land in qucsion, but so far as was known there was no record of the transaction, and although the Board had fenced in tho land it had received as part of the area of the park it had no legal right to the land. The same thing applied to the plot in occupation of the Police Department known as the police paddock. A readjustment was to be made and the exchange put on a sound footing. It would be seen on glancing at thT the plan that lot one, comprising 2ac 3r 23p, was what the 'Board would acquire, and lot two consisting of 3ac Or 22p, which really belonged to the Board would go to thfe Police Department. In area this represeri; ted a gain of about a-quarter of an aero to the Department. This, however, could not be objected to, as the section received by the Board was that plot of land fronting on High Street. from the corner near the public pound up to a point opposite Mr Twomey's residence. It was fenced in and used as a portion of the, Park and extended back 5 chain, thus taking in a part of - the bicycle track and oval The section acquired by the Police Department was a back section fronting the railway reserve. It would be seen that the exchange was ; really in) favour of the Board. It was now necessary that such action should be taken as to place the agreement on a legal basis. The following motion (as stated in last issue) was carried :—" That Mr G. W. Aspinall be instructed to take steps to have the exchange of parts of reserves 277 and 307, as shown on the plan prepared by Messrs Meason and Marchant, legally confirmed." The meeting then adjourned.
