Nf.w York, Oct 17. In the first race for the America Cap tie Columbia had the windward position in a seven knot breeze. The weather was foggy• and the water smooth. She led by a quarter of a mile for the first hour, and rounded the mark a mile ahead ; the breeze stiffened, and the Columbia, superblyhandled, won by half a mile.
