CYCLING.

Arrangements are well forward for the Timaru-Curistchurch road race, ivhieh will be contested on Oct. 26th. The promoters are the Dunlop Tyre Co. and Messrs Mason, Struthers & Co., who are giving rive valuable prizes to be competed for. On Tuesday representatives of both firms passed through Teinuka en route for Ckristohurch, it being their intention of cycling over the road and making all necessary ar ran gements. Messrs J. Orr, T. Orr, J. Connell, and C. Opie, of the Teinuka Bicycle Club, have entered from Temuka. As the race is a handicap one, the above-mentioned riders should have a chance, as all are well-known tough riders. Messrs E. H. James and A. McDuff, the representatives of the firms mentioned above, arrived at Geraldine at 8.30 p.m. on Monday, found Mr P. Burke, secretary of the Geraldine Cycling Club, who informed them as to the best route to take, and he also accompanied them as far as Cooper's Creek. Dr Reid, of Timaru, will act as starter of the race, and the scratch man is timed to leave Timaru at 8 a,m. Press
