Mount Peel Road Board.

The monthly meeting of thia board was held on Friday last. Present—Messrs Dennistoun, Thomson, Tripp, and Thaw. The overseer reported that the men had been engaged in patching weak places, and in clearing out water-tables, etc. Mr Foden had compleled the bridge over the North Opuha Gorge, with the exception of a few minor details. The work, on the whole, had been very well done. Several letters were received from the Valuation Department advising alterations to the roll. It was decided to send the contribution to the Harbour Hoard, amounting to £248 18s sd, for the half year.

It was resolved that the clerk write to Mr Flatman, M.H.R., enclosing copies of the following resolutions : board beg to call your attention to the utterly unworkable points in the Public Contracts Bill, and fee 1 sure that if passed in its present form it will result in endless litigation. The board, therefore, trust you will see your way to oppose the Bill. We would call your attention especially to clauses 8 and 10.” " That thia board trust you will oppose the Roads Obstruction Prevention Bill, as it considers it would be a very great hardship, especially in backcountry places, to do away with gates on public roads. In many cases it would be quite impossible to fence snob roads.” Accounts amounting to j 6328 17s lid were passed for payment, and the board rose.
