CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET* At the Addington yards on Wednesday in spite of the rough weather there were fairly largeyardinga of stock, including 5709 fat sheep, 1600 fat lambs, 1687 store sheep, 472 cattle, and 330 pigs. Fat Cattle.—The 198 head of fat cattle were mostly secondary sorta, which met with a sluggish and experienced a father drop, while a few really good bullocks from the North Island met with fair competition, selling from £8 10s to £lO 10s, while ordinary steers ran from £3 10s to £6, and up to £7 17s 6d, for better class ; good heifers £6 to £7, others down to £3los, cows £3 10s to £6 10s. Per 1001 b beef ruled from 16s to 18s, medium 14a 6d to 15s 6d, inferior down to 12a. Store Cattle—A large entry of store cattle met with much better sale. Four-year-old steers £4 to £4 10a, to 3 yearold do. £3 6s to £3 17s, 2-year-old do. £2 12s, to 3 year-old heifers £3 to £3 lls, aiud yearlings to. 18 months old 25s to 335. Fat Sheep—The fat sheep included a fair proportion of good freezing sheep, which met, with ready sale at quite up to late rates, 15a Od to 18i 6J. Prime young trade ewes also sold well ; best from 14s to 16s 3d, and fair to good 12s to 13a 6d, but inferior were in supply and were dragging considerably at from 9a to lls. Good medium weight freezing hoggets sold well at from 14s to 17a 6d, but the heavier sorts, which would have to go as tegs, met with less demand than of late, and unfinished sorts and butchers lines were sligh ily easier at from lls to 13s 6d. Store Sheep—The stores were mostly breeding ewes, and this class was firmer and in good demand, selling at from 13s 2d to 16s 3d, according to age. Wethers and hoggets were slightly easier, the former at from 13s 2d to 14s, and hoggets 8a Id to lls Id. Pigs—The bulk of the pigs were small stores, which sold well, and a scarcity of fata caused prices to harded. Baconers 3Jd, and porkers 4|d to 5d per lb. Per head baconers brought 42a to 48s, porkers 28s to 44s 6d, stores 21a 6d, to 34-», weauers 13a to 15s, and suckers 9s 3d to 12s 3d. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Market on Wednesday the following business was transacted ; Fat Cettle—l7o head were yarded consisting of half fat with a few smalt lots of prime. The latter sold at rather ad vanced prices, while unfinished lots were difficult to quit at low values. Best bullocks sold at £7 15s to £9, others £4 10s to £7, best heifers £5 to £5 10a, cows and heifers (unfinished) £2 7s 6d to £4 12s 6d. Fat Sbe?p —961 fat sheep were yarded. The presence of leading northern buyers helped to keep things up to last week’s values, and for really prime wethers there was an advance. Really prime wethers sold atlSsOd to 16s 9d, extra prime 17s, crossbred wethers 14s to 15s 3d, heavy crossbred ewes 12s to 14s, others do. 10s to lls 9d. A northern buyer took 1250. Fat Lambs—lo 23 fat lambs were yarded and prices were in favour of vendors. For lines fit for the factory exporters continue the principal buyers. Best sold at from 14s to 15s, medium lls 6d to 12s 6d, inferior and stores 8s fid to 10s. Pigs—lo 9 pigs were panned. Suckers sold at 9s to 17s, slips 20s to 265, stores 28s to 38s, porkers 35s to 40s, light baconers 42s to 50s, heavy sows 57s 6cl to 62s 6d. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday;— Wheat—There is no change to report. Quotations are—Prime 2s 6d to 2s 7d good sound 2s 4d to 2s sd, fowl feed up to 2s. Oats—Despite the fact that the outside bemand is nut good, prices are better. Probably this is due to the firmness with which farmers are bolding, Prime milling is quoted at Is od to Is s£d, prime feed Is 4d to la 4£d, ordinary Is 3d to Is 3£d ; ex store. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, July 19. Wheat, chick, 2s 51 to 2s 6d ; milling, 2s lid to 3s Id. Flour, ££7 ; Manitoban, £9 15s. Oats, prime New Zealand feeding, ls7d to Is 9d ; Tasmanian, Is 6d to Is 8d; tartarian seeding, Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley, Oapa, 2s 3d ; English, 2s 3d to to 2s sd. Maize, 2a lOd. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the Uuited Kingdom is 2,549,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,260,000 quarters. London, July 19. At' the tallow auction 1300 casks were offered,and 450 sold. Quotations are unchanged.
