Temuka Rifles.

A company parade of the Temuka Rifles was held on Wednesday evening, fifty members being on parade. Captain Richardson was in command, aDd Lieutenant Whitehead and Staff-Sergeant-Major Jones were in attendance. The company was put through various company movements, and the men acquitted themselves thoroughly well, and received the commendations of the officers present. After parade Captain Richardson read a letter from Major Young and other old members of the corps, asking the present members to give a small donation towards a tombstone to mark the last resting-plaee of the late Lieutenant White, an old comrade. Captain Richardson said the former members of the corps had freely . subscribed to this, and he felt sure the the company would; contribute something towards the object. Sergeant Levens was was deputed to receive subscriptions from the company for the object named. Quarter-master Coira read a brief statement showing that Lieutenant White was for ten years in the Imperial Army, and for some years a member of the Temuka Riflle Captain Richardson then mentioned that, as they were aware, special importance was attached to this parade.
