CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET. At the Addington yards on Wednesday the entries were uot so large as expected i seeing that there will be no sale next i week. Fat Cattle—About 250 head of cattle were yarded. Steers brought from £5 to £8 10s, heifers £4 15s to £7 7s 6d, cows from £3 15s to £6 15s. Best beef brought from 18s to 19s 6d per 1001 b, aud secondary from 14s. Dairy Cattle—Dairy cows were very dull of sale, the top price being £6. Store Cattle—Store cattle showed a slight improvomeut, yearlings selling at £1 15s, 2-year-olds to £2 15s, 3-year->ld heifers aud steers £4 to £5 10s, good store cows to £3 10s. r at Sheep—There was a good entry of fat sheep, composed mostly of butchers’ lines. Lute values were maintained till near the close when the market completely collapsed. Good competition was shown for the few wethers that came to hand; little or no demand for maiden ewes. Shorn wethers sold from 13a to 15s 6d, inferior do 10s 9d to 12s 9d, maiden ewes 10a to 13s 7cl, best shorn fat ewes 10a to 12s, medium do 8s to 9s, shorn merino wethers 4s 6d to 9a 7d, best cross bred wethers 16a to 19s, medium do 12s 9d to 14s 6d, best crossbred wethers and maiden ewes 15s to 18a 6d, medium do 12s Gd to 14s 6d, fat ewes 11a 9d, to 15a 6d, meriuo wethers 7s 6d to 13s lOd (all iu ihe wool). Fat Lambs—ln fat lambs prices ranged from 8s to 12a. Store Sheep—ln store sheep there was a small entry. Good strong wethers sold at values equal to last week’s, and good young ewes with a large percentage of lambs were also in request. Shorn crossbred wethers brought from 9a to 9s 2d, crossbred wethers in the wool 12a 6d, crossbred ewes iu the wool and lambs 12s to 13a, shorn do 9s Bd, shorn crossbred ewes Ba, merino ewes iu the wool, 8s to 8a 3d. Pigs—High prices ruled, as buyers had to obtain two weeks’ supplies. Bacouers brought from 29s to 46s 6d, porkers 19s to 325, choppers 31s to 455, stores 8a 6d to 16a Gd ; bacouers realised 34d to 3jd per lb, and porkers 3|d to 4d. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday Wheat—There is no difficulty in placing all ou hand, medium quality fetching all on hand, medium quality fetching 5d to 6d more, aud prime 3d to 4d more than a fortnight ago. Prime milling velvet sells at 4s to 4s 2d, extra Id to 2d more, medium 3s 8d to 3s lOd, prime tnscau 3s lOd to 4s, prime red 3s lOd to 4a, medium 3s 7d to 3s 9d, inferior 3s to 3s 5d ; sacks weighed iu. Stocks are now pretty well e’eaned out. Oats —Prices again show some improvement. There are still, however, considerable quantities iu store, and some arriving daily, so that tho future is difficult to predict. Present quotations are—Prime milling and best bright feed, la llsd to 2s; medium, Is 10 Jd to Is lid ; inferior, Is 9d to Is lOd; ex store, sacks extra. Barley has a little more attention, but there is no improvomeut iu price. Ryegrass—Stocks of ryegrass seeds are heavy aud no demand. Quotations (nominal) : For prime machine-dressed, 2s 9d to 3s; medium, 2a 3d to 3s 6d net (ex store, sacks extra.) Cocksfoot —In limited demand, and retailed at s£d to sifd for best dressed, and 4£d to 5Jd for medium per lb net (ex store.) Chaff—The market being over- supplied with medium and inferior quality is affecting the value of prime. Quotations ; For best, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s ; extra prime on rare occasions, £2l2s 6d; medium, £llss to £2 2a 6d per ton (ex truck, sacks extra). Potatoes—Prices are somewhat firmer this week, best dorwents fetching, £4 2s Gd to £4 12s 6d ; medium, £3 12s 6cl to £3 17s 6d per ton (ex store, sacks weighed iu.) Sheepskins —A very considerable number of those are put through every week, and with a very satisfactory demand prices remain steady, best green crossbreds fetching 4s 3d to 4s 7d; extra heavy aud picked, 4s 9d to 5s 3d; green merinos, 2s 6d to 3s 9d ; best dry crossbreds, 4Jd to 51d ; medium, 3d to 4d ; best do meriuo, 3d to 4d; medium, 2d to 2fd per lb. Hides—There is no alteration to note iu prices, best fetching 2d to 2f d ; extra heavy ox, 3dto3id; light, to IJd; inferior, Id to L}d per lb. Tallow—Tho business done iu this market is confined to oddments from the country, broken packages rendered fetching 10s Gd to 15a; fresh mutton caul tat, lls tollsGd ; medium, 9s Gd to 10s Gd; inferior, 8s Gd to 9s per cwt (ex store, net.) DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At tho Burnside Market on Wednesday the following business was transacted ; Cattle—l 37 head of fat cattle wore yarded. Competition was good all through for the moderate supply aud last week’s prices were fully maintained. Best bullocks brought £8 10a to £lO 15s, medium £G 15s, light £5 10s to £6 10s, best cows £G 6s to £7 ss, extra heavy £B, medium £4 12s Gd to £5 15s, inferior, £2 5s to £3 7s Gd. Sheep—2249 fat sheep were penned, all crossbreds save 70 merino wethers. A few pens were prime but the bulk wore only medium. In the absence of buyers for export competition dragged, and prices compared with last week dropped 2s Gd to 3s per head.
