A BRUTAL HUSBAND.
Early one morning recently a woman named Agnes McKay was admitted to Sydney Hospital, suffering from burns on the legs and body. She stated that kin- ugsjyaji.d. She [i was feeding her baby at the time, and in J order to save it she jumped out of bed. | Two men who were passing noticed the llames and burst open the front 4oo?, but | in the meantime McKay, realising what | he had done, flung a rug around her «ud put the flames out. When the strangers had gone, her husband refused to allow her to get assistance, though she was suffering terrible agony, and she had to wait until he had fallen into a drunken slumber before she could make her way to the .Hospital. McKay was arrested on '■ a charge of indicting grievous bodily harm on Mi wife, and was remanded for a week. The child which was in bed with Mrs McKay escaped uninjured. |
