TEMUKA FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Temuka Football Club was held in the Wallingford Hotel on Thursday evening. There was a capital attendance, about 40 members being present. On the motion of Mr McCaskill, Mr Gillespie was voted to the chair. ANNUAL REPORT. The following report for the year ending 1892 was read: — “ Gentlemen, —It is with great pleasure we present you with the annual report for the season 1892. Doubtless it is fresh in your minds that the Club, finding they were weak in membership, decided to play as a junior Club for the season. In evidence of the wisdom of this step we have to congratulate members upon the success attending their endeavors, viz., winning the Junior Flag and President’s Trophy, which is a very creditable performance, taking into consideration the many difficulties we had to contend against in the way of partial officials, and adverse criticism by the press. We can safely say that at no time than the present has so much interest and enthusiasm been evident amongst our players and supporters. Both our teams have finished the season with but one defeat each in the Rugby Union fixtures, and that at the hands of the Colonials, who acted as runners up in each contest. Our First Fifteen played 9 games, winning G, losing 2, and drawing 1, scoring 60 points, and had 29 points scored against them. Our Second have a much more favorable record, playing 10 games, winning 9, and losing one. They scored 103 points, and had 23 points scored against them. In conclusion we heartily thank those who so liberally assisted the Club with donations, and the members generally for their support and courtesy, and we trust that during the ensuing season members will display as much energy and good feeling. The question of the advisability of remaining as juniors, or taking a step forward and entering as a senior club will be for you to decide at this meeting. The balancesheet is appended to this report. “ Signed on behalf of the committee, “J. A. McCaskill, “ Hon Sec.

“ Temuka, March 6th, 1893.” The balance-sheet showed that the total receipts amounted to £l4 IGs 9d, including officers’ donations £5 17s, members’ subscriptions £7 9s, and balance from social account fund £1 10s 9d. He trusted that members would be careful and exemplary in their behaviour, and remove any unfavourable impression that some sections of the public had formed about them.
