CRICKET.
TGWN V. COUNTRY. The return match between the above teams was played at Temuka on Thursday afternoon, and resulted in a draw in favor of the Town, who made 122 for 8 wickets, when they declared the innings closed. For their team Postlethwaite and Perry mude a capital stand, the former having scored 40 when he was bowled by Hayhurst. The Country, captained by Cayley, were not in the best of form, their bowling being somewhat ‘‘ oil ” compared with that exhibited in former matches. When time was called they had put together 73 runs for 7 wickets, Diguau and Pearpoiut not out, with Wilson Smith and Gillespie to follow. Of this score EL W. Moore contributed 29. For the Town .Postlethwaite bowled exceedingly well. The fielding, all round, was good, only one or two chances being missed. Messrs Gaze and Crosbie umpired for Country and Town respectively. The teams were entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs Cutten in a pavilion erected alongside the lawn. There was a good attendance of spectators, visitors being present from Geraldine and Winchester. A cricket match will be played this afternoon, in the Victoria Park, Temuka, between a team from McCaskill’s woolworks and an eleven from the Temuka club, play commencing at 2 o’clock.
