AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above w*s held last night. Present—Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman), E. Brown, E. Cair, A. Frew, and A. Russell. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr W. Gosling, asking for statement of account for rates due, he having mislaid one furnished. From the Geraldine County Council, stating that the board's contribution to the Timaru Harbor Board amounted to £l7, and it was requested that the half of this amount be forwarded promptly by the Ist April to the credit of the Harbor Board at the Bank of New Zealand, Timaru.—The clerk stated that the board had already paid £l7 out of the current years's tiuances, and a portion of that had still to be collected.—To be paid April Ist. overseer's report. The overseer reported that the contractor for cleaning the creek had signed contract bond and commenced work. He had cleaned nearly to Maude-street bridge, but had applied for permission to leave ths work for two days to do some private work. He had granted permission on the understanding that the work would be pushed on promptly afterwards. CREEK RESERVES. Tho quo3tion of leasing the creek reserves was discussed. The board was of opinion that they were justified in taking preliminary steps re letting them, pending further communication from the Government. The overseer was instructed to prepare a sketch plan of the reserves, showing portions available for lease, and also a draft of conditions upon which they could be let, and submit them at the next meeting. Application having been made for a ford across the creek, it was decided that the matter should be considered at next meeting, when an estimate would be furnished by the overseer, and in the meantime it was agreed that the members should take an opportunity of inspecting the place. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £6 14s were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
