INTERVIEW. Mr Lawlor waited upon the board, and pressed for the formation of the road through reserve 1400, leading to his section. Until it was formed it was utterly impossible for him to remove crop from his land. He considered that through the road not being in a condition to carry heavy traffic he was fully £IOO out of pocket. He was willing, in conjunction with other occupiers, to contribute a little towards the cost.

Mr Lawlor was asked what he valued the work at, and replied that as it was nearly all hand labour it would cost about 353 a chain to form and shingle it for ordinary traffic. Mr Lawlor havi-ig withdrawn, the chairman stated that some of the members had visited the place and had been inclined to agree with a suggestion of the overseer that the road be ploughed and worked, and sown with cocksfoot, so as to give a stock track. A drain could subsequently be cut in one side and the road could be made up more permanently. Mr Bisset suggested that the present road should be continued for some 12 chains and shingled, and from thence a bridle track could be formed by continuing the drain and throwing out the peat. He thought this course would meet the case. The overseer stated that he had based aneatimate, previously submitted, upon, some such plan. After some consideration, it was agreed —" That the overseer call tenders for the work, to be considered at next meeting "
