i The above board met on Tuesday . evetiiug. Present Messrs A White " (chairman), W. S. Maslin, J. Williams, \ Li. Y. Ferguson, R. Taylor, R. Hammond f and J. M. Sutherland. : correspondence. , Correspondence was received and dealt ; with as under. From Mr J. Brown, Teniuka, asking that Mrs Quinn's name be placed on the rate roll for section at Geraldine, lately i occupied by Mr Herdman.—Granted. ' From Messrs Taylor & Flatmau, asking that Annie Hay's name be put on the rate roll for section 138, Geraldine.— Granted. From W. Heney, asking that Mr W. , Walton's name be placed on rate roll for '. sections 246, 247, 248, 249, Geraldine.— Granted. From the Bank of New Zealand, r sending receipt for fixed deposit of £IOO. From the Geraldine County Council, requesting prompt payment of Board's half year's contribution to the Timaru Harbour Board.—To be paid. RPPOK.TS. The overseer's report was read on work done. The ranger's report was read on stray cattle, aud it was shown that three persons were at fault on three consecutive times. It was resolved that three persons, viz., Messrs W. S. Maslin, Albert, and Worner be summoned. The question of stray cattle was then fully discussed by the Board, and it was finally decided that the position of ranger be done away with, and the present ranger be given throe month's notice. WARNING TO CYCLISTS. Several members spoke against the practice of cyclists riding their machines ou the footpath in the main streets, and it wa=i thought only right >th-.it the by-law should be enforced. THE PAN SYSTEM. The only tender received for the removal of nightsoil from the tosru district was that of E. Stringer—sd per pan, or £53 103 per annum.—The tender was acoepted at £53 10s per annum. It was resolved that thtj fees for removing nightsoil be 2s 6d per quarter for 5-gallon pans emptied fortnightly, and 5s per quarter if emptied weekly; all fees to be paid in advance to the clerk at the town board office, aud no pan to hold more than 5 gallons. Mr Annan, overseer, was appointed inspector of nuisauces to see that the pan system is properly enforced. It was oarried—" That the nightsoil pan system be adopted in the Geraldine district under the powers of the Municipal Act, 1880, and Public Health Act, 1870, a; from the Ist day of April, 1893." ST VNBS ON THK ROADS. Mr Hammond pointed out that the sfcoiiGs on the town roads were a disgrace to the board, and were likely to break tires and spokes of conveyances. The chairman was authorised to employ a man to pick or break stones on roads where required. RENTS. It wa3 agreed that any person whoso rent is two quarters in arrear be notified, that the same must be paid, before meeting of the board. HATES, It was resolved that all persons with unpaid rates, irrespective of amounts, be summoned. UNREGISTERED DOGS. It was decided that anyone keeping an unregistered dog be summoned. FINANCIAL.
