London, Jan. 5. The Railway men are atill confident of success. Trade is fairly regular despite the interruptions to traffic. The clerks of the London Post Office and Savings Bank who were suspended for refueing to work overtime, complain of excessive employment of females in the Department. Two thousand labourers at Swineford, County Mayo, demand work at the railway relief works and threaten that if it iis not given them to stop those at present engaged. The suffering in the East End from cold and starvation is appalling. The relief afforded iB quite inadequate. Brisbane, Jan, 6. A difficulty has arisen owing to the shearers declining to shear under the new agreement with the Paatoralists U nion. The latter will wait for a few weeks to eee if the men will give in and if they do not then free labour will be employed.

Dfweik, Jan. 7, A labour dicpute is impending at the bhag Point mine, as the owners intend to discontinue working under union rules after the twelfth. The miners have recived notice to leave their cottages and worfe. The men are determined to maintain what they conceive are their rights.
