Wbstpobt, Jan. 6. Joseph Robert Bmailes died suddenly at the honpital to-day, Deceased waa admitted to the institution on Monday night Buffering from diarrhoea. He leaves a wife, who resides at Brunnerton.
GbbtmouiHj Jan. 6. A lad named Morriaey, while working over a tunnel at -Kairaati this afternoon, was carrried by a falling tree 200ffc, smashing his arm and injuring him internally. Dr Buckley at once went; to the scene and amputated the arm at the shoulder, It; is feared the lad is seriously injured.
Lttteltoh; Jan. 6. A coach builder named Prince, of Christchurch, under medical treatment for drink, died in gaol. Thiß forenoon the body of a man named George Will mot was found loating ia the harbor at Lyttelton close to the ocean steamers' wharf. Willmot has been living in a small shed on the reclaimed ground for some time and was last seen at II p.m. on Monday. It is supposed that he was going home when he fell over the wharf. He was about forty years of age and a native of Hobart.'
