TO THE EDITOB.
Sir, —In your leading article of the Geraldine Guardian, August 7, I notice that yan mention “as an instance of bad employers,” &c., &c., that a member of the Legislative Council had discharged one of his hands who had been in his service for 16 years because he is too old to work. I think this must refer to me, if so, I wish to contradict this statement. That I am leaving my present situation is true, but that I am being, so to speak, “kicked out” because I am too old to work I must emphatically deny. Mr Wigley has always been a good and kind master to me, and I have nothing to complain of whatsoever. —I am, &e., Daniel McKay, August 12th, 1890.
[We are glad to publish this letter, as we have reasons now for believing that we were altogether wrong. We did not know at the time of writing the paragraph that it referred to Mr McKay.— Ed,]
