Paris, August 8. A large body of strikers sacked snd fir d a fac'nry at Amiens, and then interfered with the fir-men who attempted to subdue the fhnies. A serious riot ensued between the rioters »nd the firemen. Cavalry wers called out aad charged the rioters wi'h drawn swords, clearing the street. I'he firemen then set to work to subdue the flumes, which they uhimalely succeeded in doing. Later on the strikers attacked a number of Italian workmen, who had been imported to fM ibeir places. In lb? melee many of the latter were brutally ill-used. the rints which have taken place at Amiens were the result of weavers going out on strike. There has been a renewal of rioting in the city at the funeral of a lending Communist. While the cortege was passing the police station a bomb was thrown at the building, but fortunately it did not explode, The mob bec»me so demonstrative that the police were compelled to interfere. The officers were attacked, and were compelled to draw their swords and charge the mob. Order was not restored umil the police used their pistols.
