CHRISTOHUROH CORN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 13th inst. : Deliveries from the country stations have fallen off considerably since the weather broke, and merchants haTe to take their shipping requirements from stored parcels. Farmers are exceedingly busy preparing for wheat sowing, which, according to report, is expected to be much greater rban the past two seasons. The rains have been favorable for plougb= ing, but the potato grow6rs are placed at a disadvantage for the time being. Wheat—The improvement in the London market has had the effect of causing a hardening tendency, but actual prices i remain unaltered. Tuscan and pearl command 3s 6d. and hunters is in good demand at 3s 3d ; second quality has improved to 3s 2d to 3s 4d ; chicken wheat, clean, is scaice at 2s 9d to 2s lid. Oats—While the Southern growers are offering so freely holders here have but a poor show of doißg business. Prime milling are held lightly at Is 9d to Is lOd j short feed are quiet at Is 8d to Is 9d, while lone descriptions are dull at Is 6d to Is 7d. Dairy Produce—A good quantity of both butter and cheese is offering, but prices remain in favor of buyers, and holders find a difficulty in obtaining gd to 7d for prime butter, and s|d for loafshaped cheese. The above quotations are for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton, sacks iupluded. OHRISTOHUEOH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday, despite the wet weather there was % fully an average entry of stock sent forward, and the usual attendance of buyers. Cattle—Fat: The number of f 4 cattle on offer was quite up to the average, and principally very suitable weights, and steers and heifers in about equal proportions. Sheep—Fat: In the fat sheep market, a good entry was on offer. The demand was good. The best of the sheep, fourtooth crossbreds and maiden ewes of the same age, all ranged from 9s 6d to lis 7d per head, lighter weights from 7s 3d to 8s 6d ; good crossbred ewes from 8s 6d to 10s 3d ; inferior description, 5s to 6s 9d ; merioo wethers sold at from 6s to as high as 8s 6d, and merino ewea..at from 3s 3d to 5s 9d per head, and best mutton sold at about 2d per lb down to ljd, according to the quality. Stores : In the store sheep market a good number of sheep was penned, all lota finding purchasers at ! ub ut late values. A line of four-tooth i wethers in very forward condition sold in the fat pens at 5s 7d, and another line at 6s. Other lines of crossbred wethers sold at from 4a 4d to 4s 6d, c ossbred ewes at from 4s 3d to 4s lOd per head, a line of medium lambs at 2s, and a line of merino ewes at Is 9d. Pigs _ The pig market was a very heavy one,, some grand lines of baconers boing on offer. The demand was good, all lots selling at quite last week's opening prices, viz., 3d to 3|d for good suitable woights. Baconers sold at from 32a to 43s per head, some very heavy weights going as high as 555. Porkers sold at from 16s to 27s 6d. Stores a small entry aod dull of sale. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday r Wheat —Supplies are coming to hand very slowly, and as millers stocks are low, they have at length began to realise that the. crop is a short one and that they must look further afield for their requirements. Several sales of magnitude have been effected at prices equal to very nearly 4s in Dunedin for choicest qualities. Prime milling may be quoted at from 3s 9d to 4s ; medium, 3s 7d to 3s 8d : inferior, 3s to 3s 6d. Oats.—The market is firmer, but without quotable change. Beat milling are worth Is 7sd to Is 8d ; prime short feed, Is 7d to Is 7£d; medium, Is 6d to Is 6£d. Barley—There is still a good demand for malting quality at 3s 9d to 4s ; milling, 2s 9i to 3a ; feed, dull at 2s 6d. Chaff—Best quality, £2 12s 6d to £2 15s; medium, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s. Potatoes—The market is well supplied with Southerns which are Belling at £2 to £2 ss. Grass Seed is without inquiry. Butter—Keg butter, 7£d ; fresh, 8d for best mixed cases. Eggs—The market is well supplied. The price is 2s Id per doz.

Sheepskins—On Monday town butchers' green skins were sold as follow :—Crossbreds, Is lOd to 3a 3d ; merinoa, lOd to 2s ; lambskins, from 2s to 3s; country skins, from 8d up to 6s for full-woolled. Hides—The demand continues brisk for prime lots, and for these late quotations are still current—but hides in any way damaged, whether from careless flaying or insufficient salting, are almost unsaleable. Tallow—A good demand exists. Prime mutton (in shipping parcels), £lB to £lB 103 per ton, f.o.b. ; odd lots, £l6 to £l7 ; prime mixed, £ls ; medium, £l3 to £l4 ; inferior, £ll to £l2 ; rough fat, 63 to lis per owt. DUNEDIH STOCK MARKETS. At the Bnrnsida Yards on Wednesday the following busiaess was transacted : Fat Cottle—l6o head were yarded, about onerthird of them being prime, and the remainder medium j;o good quality. The sale dragged somewhat all through, and prices did not improve. Best buL locks brought from £7 to £8; medium, £5 10s to £6 15s; best cows, from £5 10s to £6 17s 6d ; medium, £3 to £4 17s 6d. —Messrs D. Keid and Co. sold for Messrs M'Goverin and Hardy (The Hook, , Waimate), 12 prime bullocks to £Bl2s 6d. Fat Sheep—346l penned, including 260 merinos, The rest were crossbreds of all qualities from inferior to prime. Best crossbred wethers brought from 8s to 9s 6d ; medium, 7s to 7s 6d ; beat crossbred ewes, 6s to 8s; medium,'4a 6d to ss; merino ewes, 3s 3d. —Mr L. Maclsan sold for the executors of the late Mr M. Studbolme (Watmate estate), 80 crossbred ewes at 5s 31, and 40 at 4s 9d.

Fat Lambs—4s3 penned, and were readily sold at from 4* 6d to 7s 3d. Figs—ll 7 penned, all bacon pigs and porkers. Extra heavy baconara at from 46s to 55s ; ordinary, 30s to 425; porkers, 19a to 28s.—Mr Donald Stronach sold pn account of Mr J. Qrimsey (Orari), 28 at from 10a 6d to 395. Horses—Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and (Jo. quote first-class draughts at from £lB to £23 ; medium, £8 to £ls ; firstclass backs and light-harness horses, £ls to £2O ; medium, £8 to inferior, £1 IQs to £5. ENGLISH MARKETS. The following private telegram was received in Ohristcbqrcfi on Wednesday : — “ Wheat —Market is declining, and is affected by fine weather and lower prices ip America,” The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile 1 Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cable message from London, dated 11th May, 1887 “ Frozen MeatMarket depressed, and fqr lambs if; is overstocked. Canterbury mutton and lamb are worth respectively 4Jd and 5Jd per lb.”
