ASHBURTON MARKETS. . , Mr E. G. Staveley (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company) reports on' the stock sale on Tuesday as follows : At the Ashburton sale 11,000 sheep, 150 cattle, and 50 pigs were yarded. Sheep—Sheep were dull, and values had declined. Fat heavy crossbreds, 17s; medium do, lis 6d ; shorn do, 9s ; forward wethers, 8s 3d to 10s ; forward merino wethers, 7s; good hoggets, 7s to 9s Id ; medium, 4s Id to 6s 4d ; merino ewes, with fair percentage, 4s Id to ss; good crossbred ewes, heavy percentage, 108. Cattle—Cattle are unaltered; and a slack demand. Fat cows, £4 10s to £5 12s 6d ; forward heifers, £3 12s ; steers, £4 2s 61, ENGLISH MAEjfETS. London, Oct. 18.' Adelaide wheat, 355; Adelaide flour, 24*. New Zealand wheat—lowest, 28s; highest 335.
