Geraldine Town Board

“ Gentlemen, —I have the honor to report that since last meeting very little has been done to the roads, save two and a-balf days by Mr Frude, and four or five days by Mr Harding. Mr Maloney during the month has finished all the top dressing of the asphalting, and has put down a few yards for Mr Mundell, and in front of the Primitive Methodist Chapel, I have only one man at work at present; namely, Mr Harding, who is filling ruts and breaking stones on the Cemetery Road. It perhaps would be advisable to have all roads and footpaths attended to before the bad weather sots in.—With reference to the bridge on the Cemetery Road, 1 have carefully examined the concrete abutment on each side of the waterway, and find everything all right, save that the north-west wing wall is separated from the abutment, but nothing that will be detrimental to the bridge. The caps, bearers, and decking appear to be all right underneath. The upper side of the decking is a little worn by the traffic, and I would recommend the removal of the debris from the joints of the decking, and that it be thoroughly cleaned and given a good coat of tar, similar to top dressing of our ash pha it, which will greatly add to its durability.—The valuation list for the Town District was examined, objections considered, and alterations made where necessary by the Judge of the Assessment Court yesterday, so it is competent now for the Board to proceed with the levying of a rate, and instruct the rate book to be made out as per section of the Act. A notice of claim book will have to be printed, and one or more receipt books are necessary—with blocks. —The Auditor (Mr Ollivier) will audit the accounts of the Board on Thursday, the Bth inst., as per memo, received. —Since last meeting the following amounts have been received and paid into the credit of the Board, viz., £2B 12s ; made up as follows : Asphalt, £l4 16s ; dog fees, £6 4h ; rents, 15s ; tithes, £6 ; trespass fees, 155.—1 am, etc., “0. E. Sherratt, “Overseer.”
