CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE

The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 12th February .* —

Harvest operations are rapidly drawing to a close and threshing is beccming general, but results (especially from the ,light lands) are in many cases disappointing as to yield and size of berry ,but_tbe condition is excellent for shipping. Wheat—A wide range exists as to prices, prime well-filled grain being worth up to 3s 3d, while thin and parched parcels are hard to quit at more than 2s 1 Id to 3s Id ; osveral old linea have bef-n sold at rather less money. Oats'have a stronir intercolonial demand ; milling can be quoted up to 2s 2d ; short feed, 2s to 2s Id; anti long descriptions, Is lOd to la Hd. The

quality generally is bright, but light in body. Barley—Samples to hand are good jd color but irregular in size,, prices are scanely yet arranged, but sales of Blenheim (which is reported to be of excellent quality) have been made at 3s 3d at Picton, at which figure we anticipate sales of prime will be made ia this market. Oiri lines now consist principally of feed, which find buyers at 2s to 2s Id. Peas—Blue Prussian have an enquiry at 3s 6d. No beans are yet in the market. Rye grass has a bare market; buyers are prepared to buy, but growers are usking fancy prices. Silos are slow, but prices do not transpire. Cocksfoot has a ready sale at 4(1 for good parcels, extra heavy a fraction more. Dairy produce has a fair enquiry at late rates.
