Mr Murray-Smith has presented two Mioton vases to the National Gallery at Melbourne.
The Agents-General will hold a conference respecting the New Hebrides on Thursday. Sir Charles Tupper, High Commissioner for Canada, will be present representing a Pacific power. Replying to the welcome extended to him by the Agents-General on his assumption of the office of Secretary o State for the Colonies, Lord Granville expressed a hope that the AgentsGeneral would assist the Crown to keep up sympathy and touch with the colonies.
Prince Nikita of Montenegro has gone ou a visit to St. Petersburg. Mr Alexander Shipley has been appointed American Consul at Auckland. Earl Granville, Secretary, and Mr Osborne Morgan, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, received the AgentsGeneral to-day. Lord Granville, addressing them, stated he highly valued their advice on colonial affairs, and expressed a hope that he would often see them,
