THE V.R.O. SPRING MEETING. The weather ou Saturday was extremely wet, and the attendance on the Flemingten Racecourse was in consequence but a small one. His Excellency the Governor and suite were present. Ringmaster and Crystal were scratched. A good start was effected, Nordenfeldt was the first away, but was soon passed by Isonomy, who led all the way to the straight. Here First Chester, Thunderbolt, and Winchester came up, and a splendid race home ensued between the first two named and Nordenfeldt. The latter, however, managed to laud homo a head in front of First Chester, Thunderbolt lying fourth in order. The closeness of the contest gave rise to the most intense excitement. The finish was so close that it was doubtful which was tha winner until the official numbers were hoisted, and it was intensified by the fact that the winner was twice wrongly posted. Time —2min 48sec. Coburg Stakes, a handicap sweepstakes of 5 sovs. each, 1 ft., with 200 added; second horse to receive 50 sovs, out of the stake, for three-yoar-olds and upwards ; 1 mile and a furlong. Mr T.
