WOODBURY SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

An ordinary meeting was held on June 6th. Present Messrs Dean (Chairman), Hammond,Thatcher, Webb Flatman, Macdonald, and McKenzie. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. The following inward correspondence was read : From the head master, Mr Greaves, re midwinter holidays. From the Board of Education re gymnastic apparatus and fire screens. The Board offered to contribute one-half of cost of the gymnastic apparatus; the fire screens to stand over pending report of the Bot rd's Committee. From the same, intimating that the sum of £ 1.15 s had been place! to the credit of the Committee in the Bank of New Zealand, Geraldine, as special grant for sewing mistress' table. visitors' report. The report of the Visiting Committee ws»s then read. This Committee, consisting of Messrs Hammond and Thatcher, stated the school was working satisfactorily, and the average attendance good. Window-blinds required repairing; a larger number of hat pegs were required; the hearth in the infants' room needed repairs ; the fences needed to be cut and grubbed, and burned ; and one pane was broken in the head master's room. The Committee suggested that the stake and wire fence near the plantations should be taken up as the same was useless. Resolve<?—" That the above requirements be attended to at once by the authority of the Chairman." Proposed by Mr Thatcher, seconded by Flatman, and carried—" That the mid-winter holidays' commence on Friday, July 3rd, at noon, and that a concert and ball be held on the evening of that date, the proceeds to go towards the purchase of gymnastis apparatus. Charges to concert: adults 2s, children Is; children attending school 6d each Tickets for the school children will be supplied by the head master. The school will re-open on Monday the 20th July, 1885." The following gentlemen were appointed to act as a Committee of Management : Messrs Greaves, Dean, Thatcher, and Cooling,

Kesolved—" That the Chairman ascertain from the Board of Education the cost of different classes of gymnastic apparatus."

Resolved—" Thflt tenders be called for cutting, grubbing, and burning gorse fences."

Proposed by Mr Flatman, seconded by Mr Macdonald, and carried—" That on receipt of the grant of £lO the Chairman and Mr Webb be empowered to have the spouting thoroughly cleaned and repaired." The following gentlemen consented to act as Visiting Committee for the ensuing month, viz., Mesnrs Webb and McKenzie. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £i 10s were passed and paid, and, after the usual vote of thanks to the chair, the meeting then terminated.
