Mr. R. Laffig, manager of the Bank of Australasia, Hastings, returned home yesterday after visiting his father, Mr. W. Laing, New Plymouth. The Wellington City Council has appointed Mr. B. O. Peterson, at present deputy-town clerk, to be city treasurer from April 29, 1936, states a Press Association message.
The death has occurred at Sydney of Mr. John Clark Knibb Lea, aged 57 years, a well-known commercial traveller, states a cable from Sydney. In early life he was a prominent footballer in New Zealand.
