• Dr. Doris Gordon was a bridge hostess during the week.

Mrs. C. Masters was a bridge hostess on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Mrs. Uniacke entertained friends for bridge during the week. Mrs. H. L. Betts gave an enjoyable afternoon party on Wednesday. Mrs. Budge was a bridge hostess during the weekMrs. H. C. North gave an enjoyable afternoon on Thursday for her daughter, Mrs. L. H. Perkins.

Mrs. Kenneth King has returned to Auckland after visiting her mother, Mrs, / J. Harper, Juliet Street, Stratford. Mrs. Jeffries entertained the Portland Bridge Club on Tuesday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames D. Steven, L. J, Furrie, J. B. Richards, L. Jardine, It, Curtis, J. Cresswell and W. Spence.

An enjoyable time was spent at the residence of Mrs. R. Masters recently, When her guests included Mesdames W. H. H. Young, H. Good, Budge, E. H. Young, J. Lyons, A. Hugo, S. Porntt, W, Brown, J. Fredric, 3. Macalister and O, M. Curtis. Mrs. N. H- Moss gave an enjoyable afternoon party on Wednesday, when her room was attractively decorated with masses of fuschia-shaded azaleas and frantissima- Mrs. Moss to receive her guests was wearing a smartly cut gown of navy sillc suede and lace. Those present were Mesdames R. Strachan, B. Bellringer, H, von Sturmer, W. Shaw, R. Carryer, E. Gaw, Ebbett and Bodie. Wearing a smart frock of midnight blue satin, Mrs. ,E. C. A- Gaw . was hostess at an afternoon for her friends during the week. Her drawing room was arranged with bowls of blush pink roses, pink and white daisies and Australian mint. Those present were Mesdames A, Hugo, R. Tyrer, B. Bellringer, Wills, N. 0. Ebbett and Bodie, and Miss Pat Brown. Bowls and vases of pink pearl rhododendrons and pmk roses tastefully arranged with foliage made Phasing decorations in the drawing room of Mrs, E, Rutherford on Thursday night, when she was hostess for four tables of bridge, The prize for the highest score was,won by Miss Molly Lyons and the consolation prize went to Miss C. Uniacke, Mrs. Rutherfurd to receive her. guests was wearing a gown of cherry silk lace with a gold lame bridge coat, Those present included Mesdames N. Douglas, T. Urwin, W. Farquarson, H. Graham, c.
