WELLS WINS AT MANAKORIHI.

PRESIDENTS TROPHY EVENT.

The Manakorihi club’s competition for the president’s trophy (a golf club) was concluded on Saturday, A. J. Wells emerging the winner. The competition was based on the best two out of three rounds medal play. The best aggregates were: A. J. Wells 128, R. L. Barclay 130; D. Locke 133, F. Chittenden 134; S. George 138. W. Carey, Euroa, Victoria, accepted a challenge that he could not hit a golf ball three miles in less than 100 strokes. It took him 20 strokes to get clear of the town of Euroa, says the British United Press, but he completed the three miles with a tptal of 61 strokes.
