HORSE REINSTATED

DISQUALIFICATION LIFTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 25. Judgment was announced to-day in the appeal by Mrs. B. E. Beckett, owner of the, 1933 filly by Romney out of June Wine, for the removal of the disqualification of the filly which was incurred by reason of the filly becoming the property of L. H. Wynyard during the term of his disqualification for life imposed by the Auckland District Committee. . The judgment, which is signed by Messrs. J. S. McLeod, D. E. Wankiyn and H. F. O’Leary, states: “To us it appears that she acquired the horse in good faith. We wholly remove the disability and we order that the sum of £2O deposited be returned to her.”

RUAKURA TENNIS CLUB MR. ASHER OPENS COURTS. The Raukura Tennis Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon in fine weather. There was a good attendance of members and their friends and visitors from the Waitara Lawn, Clifton Park and Motunui clubs were present The patron of the club, Mr. J. Manu, introduced Mr. Asher, the Democrat candidate for the Western Maori seat, who opened the courts. t Mr. Asher wished the club the best of luck during the season. He had officiated at different gatherings before but had not had the honour of opening a tennis club’s season. Mr. Asher gave trophies for the best woman and man player of the season. He also gave £1 Is to the club’s funds. Mrs. N. Fookes then hit the first ball. Afternoon tea was provided and a Yankee tournament was played.
