BASKETBALL TOURNEY
WIN FOR AUCKLAND VISITORS Basketball teams representing the Auckland Catholic Basketball Association, the Hawera Convent, the New Plymouth Convent High School and New Plymouth Convent Blue took part in a basketball competition at New Plymouth yesterday, Auckland A winning the final. The competition was the first of its kind held at New Plymouth, and an endeavour is to be made to make it an annual fixture, Taranaki teams to visit Auckland next year. The visitors were welcomed by Father P. J. Minogue, who presented the winning players with silver buttons. The visitors were later entertained at afternoon tea. The matches resulted:— Auckland A 29 beat Convent Blue 7. Auckland B 21 beat Convent High
School 7. Auckland B 10 beat Hawera 4. Final: Auckland A 5 beat Auckland B
