DEFEAT OF KAPUNI TEAM. KAPONGA CLUB’S SUCCESS. A friendly cricket match between a Kapuni team and the Kaponga club played at Victoria Park, Kaponga, on Saturday resulted in a win for the.home team. Batting first the Kapuni team scored 49, C. Harrison 20 and A. Burke 7 being the chief scorers. Kaponga in its innings made 111, A. R. Barker .50, S. Betts and J. Davies 16 and R. Cuff 15 being the.chief scorers. Time allowed for only a second innings for Kapuni, which knocked up 49. Foster was the most successful bowler for Kaponga, taking four wickets, O’Donoghue was next best with three. For Kapuni G. Harrison took three wickets and Paterson one. Considering the weather conditions the wicket was in very fair order. SOUTH TARANAKI SCHOOLS. Primary school cricket matches in South Taranaki yesterday resulted:— Tawhiti ,70 (Ngeru 50) beat Turuturu 23 (Johnston 9). Hawera A 61 (W. Linnell 21 retired) beat Normanby 17 (McNamara 10). Hawera B 31 (Hayman 10) beat Convent, which scored 4 in the first innings and three in the second. Bailey for Hawera performed the hat trick.
