EGMONT VILLAGE NEWS

HALL COMMITTEE’S-DANCE. The Egmont Village hall committee held a successful dance on Friday. There was a splendid attendance, including patrons from New Plymouth, ■ Hillsborough, Inglewood,. Kaimiro, Kent, Road and Mangorei. Boulton’s orchestra suppled the music and Mr. Roy Gyde was master of ceremonies. Monte ■ Carlo waltzes were won by Miss Ivy, Gyde and Mr. H. Benny and Miss Esme Thomason and partner. At the invitation of the Egmont Village Domain Board there was a good attendance of settlers at the domain grounds to view the site and go into costs, etc. of levelling and laying down sports grounds. The final decision will be arrived at at a special meeting. Mrs. H. Taylor is visiting her sister at Wellington. Miss Comey is spending the school vacation with relatives at Matamata. Mr. and Mrs. G. Barnes are spending part of the school holidays at Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. R. Belcher, New Plymouth, spent the week-end as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Marsh, Egmont Road. The Egmont Village school committee met recently. Messrs. H. R. Marsh (chairman), J. 0. Morton, W. J. Salisbury and J. Adamson were present Sympathy was expressed with the secretary, Mr. W. J Guilford, in his illness and hopes expressed for a speedy recovery. Three tenders were received for royalty for the removal of pinus insignis trees on the south side of the school grounds, and that of Messrs. Lister and George was accepted, conditionally.
